Welcome Back to the New School Year
2010 is already shaping up to be another great year. We came back to school to find the BER (Building Education Revolution) has been in full swing during the holidays. The school front foyer is looking much more inviting and the new carpet which extends all the way down the long corridor to the DESU is also looking pretty swish. The DESU meeting room walls have been demolished ready to create three new teacher workstations to accommodate our extra teaching staff. The extra staff are of course employed to cater for our new students.
We are happy to report that all of our students have had a safe and healthy holiday and they have returned to their studies, hopefully with renewed energy. Our teachers have already completed the majority of their field visits to see their students and families and the remaining visits will be done in the coming weeks.
We have also established our school targets and goals for the year. Some of these are priorities for DET as a whole and the Northern Sydney Region but we have chosen targets that are specific to our own needs and the needs of our students. The broad targets are:
* Target professional learning in appropriate technologies for all teachers.
* Design and implement a project on sustainabilitiy, integrating literacy, numeracy and environment education.
* Provide education and awareness in Aboriginal culture for all teachers.
We look forward to working closely with our students and families throughout 2010 and we are anticipating another successful year.
